Wedge wire mesh balustrade infill and wedge wire handrail

Wedge wire is a robust material capable of withstanding the heaviest of loads.  It needs no maintenance and is corrosion resistant. Mesh is a great way of achieving clear, open sight lines and it allows light to pass into spaces when used in interior architecture.  Wedge wire does not require stiffeners or framing even when used in areas where crowd loading will apply.

Wedge wire handrail is a new innovation.  It looks fantastic and is exceedingly tactile. It also offers a number of interesting benefits, particularly when considering part M building regulations.  When lit from inside by LED lighting rope it is highly visible. Slotted wedge wire handrails are also specified for external applications where prolonged exposed to direct sunlight can result in other types of metal handrails overheating. Air circulation through the wedge wire slots helps to stop it becoming to hot to touch.

Amazing things can be done with wedge wire grilles - Seating

This tough but durable material can be used for so many different applications because it does what you tell it to do.  These university seats have been made out of Vee Wire that as has been bent through 90 degrees.  The result is a fantastic clean, minimal appearance, which demonstrates contemporary artistic design using a beautifully engineered material.

The added benefit is that it is rock solid, resistant to vandalism and all weather conditions.  These seats will require no maintenance for decades to come.

light weight wedge wire mesh cladding

In an earlier post we showed stunning but very heavy wedgewire cladding used for ventilation purposes but at the same time high security.  This image shows a much lighter material used to cladding for maximum day and night effect.

With lights behind it becomes a wonderful glowing structure at night.

Stunning wedge wire cladding

External mesh cladding has appeared on a variety of developments over the last decade including solar shading on office buildings, decorative facades on car parks and rain screens on stairwells.  Most of the projects to date have used woven mesh, cable mesh, perforated sheet or expanded metal.  However, the structural properties of wedgewire & Vee Wire mesh means that less sub-structure and less framing is required for the installation and therefore the overall cost of the works package is surprisingly affordable.  Another advantages of using wedge wire in this application is that larger panel sizes are available which greatly reduce overall fitting time.

Open grid stainless steel wedge wire flooring

Wedge wire can be produced in a vast range of open areas and material thicknesses.  The support bars and triangular wires can be design to accommodate any loading from single person to heavy vehicle. All you have to do is give Intamesh the dimensions of the void that the flooring panels will cover, what maximum loading will be applied and we will calculate specification of material and supply you with a quotation.

Wedge Wire Lighting Features

These snow covered lighting features in Alaska are examples of the interesting effects that can be achieved using cylinders of stainless steel wedgewire mesh.  In recent years Vee Wire mesh has been introduced into contemporary architectural designs of commercial buildings, urban developments and even occasionally high specification domestic developments.
